How to make customizations "stick"?

Menus and Digital Clocks...

This is driving me to drinking "heavily"!

First, I have a digital clock where I can right click to change the display settings. I changed the HH to hh so that the display is for 12-hour and not 24-hr. Then I add the 'tt" to the end to display the AM / PM. Problem is, I cannot make the display changes permanent. If I load a different desktop and then later come back to the desktop with the digital clock, then the clock reverts back to it's original settings...

Secondly, I'm running into a similar situation with menus. For example, I love the latest Aero-XP theme. The author has a built-in Tools menu. I'm finding it very simple to change the items on the Tools menu so that it displays and starts "my" programs. Changing "safeclean" to Ad-Aware and changing the target are very straightforward. I've just spent a few hours changing the target settings on several of the built-in menus, and saved the desktop. Then found another theme I wanted to try. Later, loaded Aero again, only to find that the authors original menus had taken over. All the time I spent customizing was for nothing. This is maddening...

I'm sure I'm doing something wrong and there must be a way to make the customizations "stick". Can someone please enlighten me? Please?

You show as a citizen/visitor as opposed to a customer.

Which DesktopX are you running? is it the client version?

i don't think any changes you make using client will stick.

the option to save the desktop (and any changes) is in builder mode.

if you're not running client, then right click on the systray icon and switch to builder. then after you make changes, right click the icon again and save the desktop, or save as and give it another name if you wish to not mess the original up for future use

Using DesktopX 3.1. And all changes were made and saved while in Builder mode. In fact, I did as you suggested and saved as: "2006 04 16 - Customized".

At this point, I have managed to get the menu customizations to stick although I don't know what I've done differently than before.... so for now, I'll chalk that one up to "solved".

Still having problems with a digital clock that I've added to the desktop. Those changes won't seem to stick for nothing.

try importing the clock in while in builder, then changing it, then exporting out
