Starbases and two resources in one sector?

I've read somewhere, that starbases are NOT cumulative - what happens when the resources are in the same sector?
Do they both count then if one builds starbases on both of them?

So far as I know, we have yet to receive a difinitive answer on the cumulative (or additive) affect of star bases, and as I recall, the statement may have applied ONLY to manufacturing upgrages.

Hey, someone at SD, please answer this and put it to rest.

I can say with 100% certainty that for every resource, there can be a star base that harvests it. Location of resources is not a factor

I think that at one point we made them not cumulative because of something odd that was going on, or something like that.

But, I've verified it with Brad today, they are supposed to be cumulative.

However, there was a bug that made them not only not cumulative, but they didn't even take the highest one, so if you had a 15% and a 5%, and the 5% came later in the processing, it'd use the 5%.

Mining bonuses, however, ALWAYS work.

Am I correct in thinking that if you build 2 starbases in the same sector, and give them both the "military and social" production upgrades - say, up to 60% on each - that in fact the planets in that sector will get a 120% bonus to construction of military and social improvements?

Is there any cap to how high it can go, and does this work with all the modules, such as trade and culture?

I tried something similar in my game today and I think the trade modules do certainly work together, but I just didn't know for sure whether or not the military/social ones were working together.

Cari,

This bug is still with us in 4D. I just tried it. I had a star base with +65% social and military assist and a planet with over 150 shields in each, then I built another star base in the same sector and the production in that planet dropped to about 80.

Just an odd thought...I haven't had the chance to check it but in the game I played last night (tiny galaxy). The Torians were going starbase happy and putting up starbases all over the place.

The placed one in my home sector, right next to my own starbase. I wonder whether this bug comes into play in that circumstance. I.E. can you cause another race's production to tank merely by virtue of putting up a small starbase in a sector where they already have a developed starbase?

If your star base had manufacturing assistance upgrades before the Torians built their star base then you should have seen any affect their star base had on your manufacturing. If your planet's manufacturing capacity dropped, it is either part of the known bug or a new bug.

Right. I didn't fix the bug until just before I posted my reply.

How about two alike resources, are they cumulative?

they sure are. I started a new game and by luck of the draw got 3 Economy resources. Now my empire is being flooded with money, 100% spending, +3000 every turn. And I'm not using Stock Market and higher. I dunno what to do with all that money, piling up by the millions. haha

I have used it to purchase tech from aliens once, but the next turn United Planets meeting came up and they voted to share all the tech. Bastards practically robbed me. But it's ok, there's plenty more where that came from

You should have quit the UP. With that much cash you don't need trade, and letting people trade with you helps them more than you!
