Question about if I purchase now????

If I purchase the Beta now(Which I assume I download and get to start playing today), will the final version I get be the same boxed edition that will be in the stores on Feb 25???? I want to buy it On-Line now so I can play the Beta but only if this $44 price includes the Final Retail boxed edition.. At Ebworld it is listed for $39...

P.S. Will there be a printed manual with the Retail boxed edition?

Thanks for the info..

YES

I'm 99% sure it will be the same, but hopefully someone from the dev team will se this :-)

Hmm, they should clarify EXACTLY what it is one gets in the BUY section, since I had the same doubts (fears?) when I bought it online.

I am also hoping someone on the dev team can answer my question... I am at home sick today(hope my boss is not into this game :)) and want to buy it now but only
if I am 100% sure I will get the retail boxed game when it comes out... The $44 price makes me think this is the case:

39$ for the game
$5 for shipping me the game when it comes out...

Looks like I got my answer by looking at the Stardock web page... On Stardock it says:

[currently in beta - includes Beta + Final version via download]

Now there is an option to get the beta CD BUT do I still get to D/L the beta today while I wait for my CD..

I am sorry but the "Purchase Now" is very confusing and vague... I dont understand why I am ask to pay $49 now for a beta CD and then I D/L the full game when it comes out when I can wait and buy the boxed full game from EB for $39????

You're not buying the beta version, your buying the final release, and being provided the oppourtunity to affect the development of the game (although at this point, it's nearly featurelocked, simply because the release date is only two months or so away). Everyone here that is not employed by Stardock is a paying customer (a couple representatives of the gaming press possibly excepted).

Among other things, people who buy the game directly from Stardock get future updates at no cost (for one year from date of purchase, for those who get it through Drengin.net, and for the length of the GC 1.x release cycle for those who purchase only GalCiv, if I'm understanding the setup correctly). I don't know if that is included in the price of the boxxed version or not.

The OS/2 version included all upgrades within version, that is, if you bought 1.0 then all of the 1.x upgrades were free, if you bought 2.0 then all of the 2.x upgrades were free. And GC/OS2 came only in a box. My sense from what I have heard is that Brad plans to continue this practice with both the boxed and downloaded media (his way of countering piracy). BUT ....

The question of what is included has become somewhat muddled with all of the comments and questions posted by non-SD people. Isn't there someplace that already has all of this information that we can all view, perhaps from one of the buttons above (well, maybe just the "encyclopedia" button)?
