Elections request

In real life, Politians do change political parties. I would like an option, the year before elections are held, to change parties. There is no guarantee that my new party will win a majority, but the odds of victory could be stated in the change party box.

I would prefer notice that an election's about to happen so I can prepare.

prepare as in a Big Tax Cut, then raise taxes after the election? It may work in the beta, but I hope Brad makes the elections more like real life, and a cut followed by a raise would make the voters very unhappy. If Bush cut taxes in October and raised them in December, I would vote against the Republicans next election.

Well, no, but I'd like a point, for example in the Government Tab, where I can see when the next election is going to happen. For example, let's say an election is happening in 6 months, and morale is a bit low, so I start propaganda campaigns on my unhappy planets to raise morale enough in time for an election.

Yes, I do agree that the AI should be smart enough to see through a "drop and raise" tactic around elections.

But the info is there, just where the senate information is... ? There is "Next election in XXX months".

Ted and jpub,
I think you would be in the minority. In my state the Republicans control congress, control the budget, have run the state into near bankruptcy, refuses to take the steps necessary to bring the budget under control, and still the majority of the population votes Republican. So why do you think the game should be any different?
