Something very similar was happening with me...maybe six mos. or so ago...I had OD (not +), and upgraded to OD+. I had the first version installed, I believe, in Program Files, on its own. When I upgraded to OD+, somehow I kept unzipping the tabs into the old version of OD and they never showed up in the new, OD+ version. I finally had one of the moderators, I think, tell me to uninstall all versions, reinstall OD+, and then look in Start>Programs>Stardock,Object Dock, install the tabs and zoomers into the backgrounds folder, and the individual .png icons I D/Led into the Images folder. Maybe the .png stuff should go into the .png folder instead ...
Hope you've already solved the glitch...if not, maybe this will help...I got so fed up, finally, I had to take time off from OD for awhile...now it lives on my desktop via Startup. Best of luck!

With all due respect to Citizen seldomseen , it's under the Dock Settings->Tabs & Styles option but you have to click on one of the tabs to cause the background options to appear.
