Mods Directory

Now that GalCiv1.1 is out is the Mods directory working yet? If so is there a guide on how to use it?

Thanks

The mods directory will be a big part of 1.2

Parts of it do work, but I haven't finished writing the docs yet.

Not that noobie. The basic stuff is in the Data/English folder for your game. Or something like that, I'm not at my computer right now.

Hmm, what does it mean that part of it works? I am new to this game, I activated the 1.1 yesterday, but I would really like to try those B5 ships from the library. But I do not want to overwrite anything as it says in the readme. Should I wait till 1.2 then?

Well, you can still use the B5 (or any other) ships in the game without overwritting anything. The problem is that you will need to modify an XML file to add references to the hulls. Or you could save a copy of the ship modles you are replacing with the new ships. The fist option gives you more ship hulls while the latter option replaces existing hulls but is easier for those not comfortable editing XML.

That is what I mean. I have to rewrite the original ship models, which I do not want to. And I am not confortable in editing XMLs either. I will wait till the MOD directory is fully functional.
