A couple of ideas

1. Since the beta is closing, and the wish list for 1.x is scattered throughout this forum, why don't we create a thread just for the wish lists, and keep it bumped up near the top of the forum when it looks like it might drop off so we don't keep repeating ourselves.

2. I anticipate that in march this fourum will be getting pretty busy, and there's a lot of usefull info from everybody that will not be seen by these new ones (remember we were one once...in my cse a Very Very long time ago) :D I think it would be nice if we could keep the salient parts in a "galactic annes"

what do you think?

I think nobody will take on the responsibility for #1, you can try doing it yourself.

#2 - I have no idea what the heck you are talking about

I think he wants an archive of the useful info that is scattered through out the forum.

At least that is what my "Universal Translator" is telling me. ;)

Great!

Now that we have set up communication possibilities, I have these few demands . . . ;)

Midnight Louie,
good idea, although I think it would be wise to wait until the 1.0 is done, as I believe the programmers have enough to worry about as it is right now :-)

I'm also told by Brad that they will work a bit more on the forum, once they've freed up some resources(Red and blue ones, I believe, hehe) so perhaps there will be an option to make topics "sticky".

Those "few demands" remind me of something that bothers me:

Extortion seems to be not really working in my experience.

I was playing an evil race vs. 5 genius AIs, and all but one planet was owned by my race (2 races attacked me and were whiped out on all of their planets) and the rest fell to my influence (12x12 map).

I was engaged in some HUGE deficit spending and after selling most of my technologies and all trade goods I was starting to run out of money.

I moved a fleet of 8 combat ships and 5 transports 1 move away from the only remaining planet of the last remaining race and demanded some tribute for my kindness of not killing them ;), but they refused, despite them having 100,000bcr and me only demanding 2,000 flat ;).

Even one of my combat ships whould have been sufficient to kill all of their ships (if it had unlimited moves ;) ) and 2 transports had enough troops to conquer their planet, my race was evil and still they refused to pay...

Any idea if this is supposed to happen this way (maybe there is some "we don't give in to extortions" policy in the code somewhere ???) ? Personally I think I would rather pay than being killed ;)

Kthulhu,
they probably assumed that you would invade anyway! You're evil. You would just take the money and then invade. I'm surprised they didn't use the money to buy ships or bribe another race into helping them.
Perhaps the AI code needs to consider this if a potential enemy moves transports and shiups towards their planet.

I think Paul is right in that the AI seems to be smart enough to reallize that paying for its survival is worthless.

But Paul, he said he had killed all of the other races. What race is left to buy ships from or to bribe help from?
