DN/GC CD Keys? What's the difference?

I purchased Galciv from GoGamer.com about a week ago. When I try to register Galciv through Stardock Central, I get an error message saying that the e-mail address I've provided doesn't match the e-mail address used when purchasing the game. The game came in a sealed box and was not pre-owned.

I have already e-mailed Stardock support about the problem but have not received an answer. Other posts seem to indicate that I'm out of luck and will be unable to update GalCiv. If Stardock support feels that silence is the best solution to this problem, that's their decision, but I need to figure out if the vendor I purchased the game from is engaging in dubious practices and should be avoided.

The CD Key on the back of the box starts with DN. Other posts indicate that DN and GC keys exist. What's the difference? Should a DN CD key appear on a legitimate copy of Galciv? Has anyone else had this problem with a boxed copy of Galciv?

The DN is the number that allows you to register your software with Galciv and also allows you to install the game, my advise is to send an e-mail to carielf explaining all these details and she can help you.

I used Stardock Central. You can register the game through that and can then get the patch updates. It is a great program and is free.

It sounds to me as if they're giving you the serial off of a Drengin account for some reason. Are you sure the disc is an official pressed CD or could they have made it themselves?

I have the cd retail version and my sn starts with DN. I could not sign in through the web to get the patch using my email either. I just used stardock central, registered the game, and downloaded the patches.

Atleast you can update some by DLing some patches from their DL page.

You can use any browser you want.
