Influnce stuff (again,hehe)

hehe, now I can you all groan, oh no - not again.
well, thanks an incredible usefull tip from Solitaire, I now know about the little button in the top right corner of the sector map that displays the exact amount of influence in each sector.
What I fail to understand, is why a sector where I have 85 influnce, and the Yor Collective have 15 influence, the color is still purple(Yor Collective color)?

Is this a bug, or does influnce colors mean something else completely??

Ok - this is impressive - now, about 8 turns later, they have 225 influence in the same sector, and have taken over 4 more sectos kinda sudden like.
I have a strange feeling, that this is the same kind of game I will be playing as the ones I've mentioned before, where all of a sudden, everything is purple except for a very small patch which is my core sector.

Now - this is really amazing - my prediction was right :-)
The Yor Collective now is in the lead with influence, after another 8-10 turns.
At the graph, the closet to me in influnce was halfway down, and now I'm halfway down with the Yor collective waayy up there.

I wish I knew how to to take screenshots - does anyone know this?

On most systems hitting the Ctrl and PrintScrn key will copy a screenshot into the clipboard. You can then paste the image into whatever program or word document you choose, as long as the program will allow you to paste an image.

build constructors and go after influence resources........find two and build them up.......

Ok - latest developement - I took note of what my Influnce score was in a particular quadrant - 168, now, then I let a constructor in the same turn upgrade a starbase two sectors north of it, and add the 10% culture bonus - and then I checked out the influence score - 170?? hmm,oh as I write I see my mistake, starbases only increase stuff in the particular sector.

Well, if that is so, what about resources? stranger and stranger.

perhaps all I need to do is find the diplomatic message that says -

ALL YOU BASE ARE BELONG TO US!

hehe, whatever - to me it still looks as if something is seriously wrong with the influence bug, especially concerning starbases as well.

Constructors will influence sectors that are 1 space around it, and will affect your overall score some. But the real money is in the influence resources......You'll need at least one to keep them off your back.

"the real money is in the influence resources......You'll need at least one to keep them off your back."

hmm - that poses a problem - current startup spreads these randomly, and since I have no way of knowing whether there are two of those right besides my enemy from the beginning, the "influence war" could be lost before it's begun (:(

Usually they are spread out enough so that that doesn't happen. As a rule the resources are in deep space or on the edge of planetary clusters. The key is getting your scouts out early to track at least one of them down.. Usually you can find them by reason of searching out planets. 'Eyes of the universe' helps but you need about 3 scouts off of your first world and then build two to three more and send them in all directions. once you find one have your low population worlds start building them while you focus on colonization, then about 50-67% through the colonize cycle go buy the constructor and claim the resource.

The funny thing about the enemy civs is that they won't claim the resources until they get all of the planets, so there may be one next to or in the enemy worlds, but you can still claim many of them. By starting early, and surrendering 10 planets or so to the enemy I was able to gain a lion's share of the resources with 2-4 influence constructors, and by focusing on constructors was able to put them on their heels before they knew what hit them. They were focusing on techs and I was focusing on cuture, and they wound up spending most of their money on morale-boosting resources.

Its a question of timing and sacrifice of resources(tech and planets).

There is a bug with the sector map not repainting itself automatically each turn.

I've noticed the lag....I would get one of the boosting wonders and there would be about a a 1 turn lag before it would take effect.... :)
