Helloo! I came across a screenshot of someones mac desktop recently, on this i noticed these widget looking things, the smaller pictures that look like they've been taped on (see link). I was wondering whether this was a dashboard widget thing or just part of the wallpaper? If it is a widget, has it been reproduced in desktopx? or can it be?

Thanks

You need to link to the actual page containing the image. Not direct link it. Otherwise you get a 403 Forbidden message.

I tracked down the screenshot you where talking about. http://www.deviantart.com/view/20560927/

I belive that's part of the wallpaper. But it's perfectly possible to make a DesktopX widget like that. In fact, it shouldn't be very hard at all.

1. A white picture frame
2. A set of random bitmaps reprecenting tape bits
3. A script which composes the image you want onto the frame, rotate it to desired angle and place a piece of tape.

oh right! thank you for finding the link.. Im new to this.
I havn't yet made a widget, it all seems quite complicated, could you possible list what i would need?
Thanks

1. Google - http://images.google.com/images?svnum=10&hl=en&lr=&client=firefox-a&rls=org.mozilla%3Aen-US%3Aofficial&q=polaroid+picture+frame&btnG=Search
Stripped out any shadow and the center. Saved as PNG.

2. Couldn't find one right away. Gave up.

3. Someone elses object - https://www.wincustomize.com/Skins.aspx?LibID=34&view=1&sortby=4&sortdir=DESC&p=1&advanced=1&searchtxt=picture
A little rotation:
Sub Object_OnScriptEnter
Object.Rotation = 37
End Sub

Layer it all up . . and there you go.
I may try to butcher this up myself.

thanks , i had a go myself (my first ever one) and it looked pretty awfull, i cut out the frame from the original picture i found, through some luck i found where to load the frame using desktopx builder, it brought up some bugs and the picture didnt fit in the frame... hope your attempt is better.. a lot better

I assumed David was teasing back. Better to error on the side of coolness, ya dig?

Problem solved.

Although . . Miriam and I were looking at flickr today: www.flickr.com/photos/tags/ {animal} /interesting/show. It plays a nice little slideshow of whatever animal we wanted to see.

I'm going to take a shot at something like that. Expect lots of questions and an ugly object soon.

There is a Flickr picture viewer out there already too.

its a gadget, not widget.. do we need to go over the differences AGAIN?

It's more than I need I think. Testing now. Have you tried it?

I want a frame. with a button to open a text field. I type whatever in the text field and it parses together the string to the flickr slideshow then closes the input field.

Slap on another button to close it. Done.

Resizing would be nice, but not required.

EDIT: The gadget keeps gonig non-responsive . . . not good.
