Late Game Bugs(?)

Posted these in another thread, but wasn't on topic and kinda got lost.

Two things I have noticed in my current game. I am most curious about the second item.

*The Acrean went to war with me and there was no warning screen.

*I control almost the entire galaxy with influence and yet planets are not defecting. I didn't think about this too much until I saved one time in the middle of my turn. The next time I played and loaded up the saved game, the first screen to pop up was that a planet defected to my side. As I continue to play, still no other planets are defecting! Thinking back, I do believe this is not the first time this has happened in my game.

Scott,
when you say you control almost the entire galaxy with influence, what are the actual values? Choose (centre on) a sector with non-defecting planets and click on the small button in the top right of the main window. You may control the sector but is your influence significantly higher than the influence of the owners of the other planets? It needs to be a few hundred higher before defections happen.

Also, do the other planets show revolt icons? This usually indicates that defections are about to occur (unless the other empire does something about it). It can still take a few years before the defections occur though (12 turns per year).

Paul.
