A Randon Walk Through Beta 4Z, and some bugs I just remembered

First of all, yet another great job! I was worried at first, but it's all much smoother and nicer now.

Now, first a bug I previously forgot, and I don't know if it's still in the game but I wanted to go ahead and mention it just incase it is.

At least in 4D, upon winning the game (I've done it twice so far) my actual final score for that game wasn't broken down/explained or seemingly even listed (just what seemed to be totally different numbers/scores on the various game stastistic/graph/info screens you get at the end of a game), just shown on the "submit to metaverse" screen.

However, here's the bug I'm quite sure is a bug: what the victory attained actually is.

In my last game I basically took over the galaxy by assimilating all the major races. Made them all extinct through cultural revolutions in the end, and war on occassion. I had only one alliance with the Drengin empire, but I eliminated them while still allied (I think) and they weren't the last race to go.

I was either at war with or in peace with the remaining empire (the yellow one), and there was I think 1-2 minor races left, when I took the last yellow empire's planets through cultural revolution. The game thus ended the next turn, explaining how I took over the universe.

However, on the "submit to metaverse" screen, it said that I won through "Allied Victory". Huh? I wasn't allied to anyone at the time, and I'm not even sure what the requirements of that victory are.

Also, trying to think back, I don't think the actual victory I got on the last game I won was correct either.

On another unrelated bug, about the Save Game screen. If you have enough saved games that a scroll bar is required to navigate through them, a scroll bar does appear - a weird looking white one, totally out of place in appearance, graphically over-layed right dead in the middle of the list of saved games, not over to the right edge like you'd expect. I do have Large Fonts enabled in Windows 98SE, but I don't think that's causing this particular problem.

Not much of a functional problem, but it sure is out of place and ugly and makes it hard to read and navigate through my saved games. I'm trying to delete enough now so it doesn't appear anymore ;)

On the opening screen when you just start the game, I'm experiencing audio distortion/jerkiness, and the graphics go really jerky and slow too when the main screen panel "opens" like it does (nice job on that, by the way, it's quite nice to look at).

The highlighting of buttons there and the moving of the cursor also seem to be a bit slow and unresponsive. However, right past that screen just about everything else in the game behaves exactly as normal. Hadn't experienced this before in beta 4D, and my computer is a 700mhz with a Geforce4 4400 Ti, so I don't think that's the problem. The graphics are nowhere near so spectacular and pixel-pushing as that ;)

In a related problem to the above, when you've colonized your first planet the graphics screen that comes up does not have the video it used to, which might be intentional, but it's behaving audially and visually the same way as the aforementioned Main Screen is - slow and jerky.

All I can think of for now :p
