Enemy gets extra move to attack!!

I discovered the following two oddities on a gigantic galaxy after building up quite an armada (so did all five
of the enemy races):

When I move one of my ships into a space next to an enemy ship it atacks me.

Also, if an enemy ship moves into a space next to one of mine it should have no more moves but it
still attacks me.

My debug file is over 4Meg in size, so I don't dare try to open it.

Jack,
I've noticed this behaviour but thought that it was part of the game. If any ship of yours moves beside an enemy ship they fight. You don't have to move onto the enemy ship.

I really don't think it is part of the game. First, it is inconsistant. Second, the OS/2 version
did not act this way. Third, it seems unfair that the enemy can do this but I can't.

My ships have definitely benefited from this before. They move beside (not onto) a ship and it gets destroyed.

Paul,
I have seen this too, when my ship's defense exceeded the other ship's attack. On balance, however,
I have suffered more than I have benefitted.

Neither you nor the AI has to have moves left in order to attack. I think that before implementing things like XP and regenerating HP, it would be unwise to mess with this feature.

Cari,
My point is that when I move a ship next to an enemy ship it attacks immediately while I still have other ships to move in
the same turn. This is what seems so anomalous. After all, it is suppose to still be my turn.

Jack

I've seen this. Will have to look.

It's probably in AICheatMove() or in AICheatKill(). Just kidding. It's a universal issue though.

Oh, OK, that was why I didn't understand why it was such a problem...
