Colony ship slider bug?

I'm not sure if this is a bug, but if it isn't it should be.

Here's how you can reproduce the bug - get a class 26+ planet, get the population to the 20+ billion range, and then build a colony ship. By manipulating the slider, you can only get roughly 5% of your population on the ship at a minimum. You use the arrows to lower that, but going from 1000 to 200 is _really_ tedious.

Can we get a little more granularity on the first step of that slider?

I had a similar problem. Wanted around 300 and got 900+. Why not make the colony slider bar similar to the new 'money / influence' slider bars on the foreign policy 'speak to' menu? The bar has the ability to type a number.

Alternatively make the colony ship similar to the transport. Max population of 1000M. Would make more sense and can use the exact same code as the transport!

There has been a longstanding "quirk" in the action of sliders in the game. Once you hit about the 5% mark on the slider you lose all ability to control the quantity.

At that point the slider allows one to either select zero or whatever the 5% mark is. Things seem to be smoother above 5%.

I don't know whether this impact people who use the wheel on a wheel mouse to control the slider but it's a definite problem otherwise.

Does your mouse have a "mouse wheel" or "scroll point"? These work on most, if not all of the sliders in GC and give far better control than clicking on the arrows or bar background or grabbing and sliding the scroll bar tab.

Oh, and by the way, I second the idea of having a maximum occupation of a colony ship set at 1,000 million colonists.

I find the sliders to be a real pain--the only thing I really hate in the game.

I've suggested before, that another alternative would be to make it so that clicking on the left and right arrows on the end of the sliders and holding down the mouse button would smoothly decrement/increment as long as you held the button down. As it is now, clicking on those arrows changes by 1 for each click, and holding the button has no effect.
