A strange turn of events

I was playing in a gigantic galaxy, all 5 ai's set to smart. During the course of this game a very strange thing happened. The Arcean had been at wor with all the other a.i's and i had destabalized them to the max. Their morale went to 1 and there population shrank. A couple of months later, checking their planets the had a defender with a population of 0! They had a population on only 1 planet. Trade him all the trade goods and tech i had and he gave up the planet. He's gone from the diplomacy screen, but he still has planets assigned to him. A couple of turn later they are still there, he's not on the diplomacy screen, but if you select one of his planets and click on the talk to button the diplomacy screen appears. I finally bought all the rest of his planets for $500 and a few techs. Then sent my colony ships there landed on the planetss a re-colonized them. Has anyone else had something like this? I might re-install the game and try again.

:notsure: Odd. We'll look into that one. When morale is that low, the population should revolt before they leave (or dye our or whatever is happening there) :p

I noticed that on planets that I made defect to me--populations of "0" I mean. However, they weren't completely empty, and after a few turns under my rule, the population would grow. I just assumed that the pop was less than one million, so it displayed as zero, since everything rounds down in the game.

Maybe some have less that a million and some have actually 0 (wait till brads creates carpet bombing! But having actually 0 and still have a ship after they have been eliminated isn't right. Why should you be able to talk to a race after they are gone from the diplomacy screen. But after i took them over some actually did have a rise in population. Wierd...

Just to test something similar, I colonized a class 1 planet with 1M population. Morale of 1%. One turn later, population 0M, morale 1%. Rebelled several turns later.

Did this again with a class 13, morale 35%. Next turn, population 0M, morale 40%. Decided to poke at it, and started building Soil Enhancement. 16 turns later, class 14, morale 51%, pop 0M. Noting the 50+ morale, I waited for a few turns. The planet eventually settled at morale 45%, pop 7M.

that very interesting so 0 can mean 0 or maybe more.

Interesting but i think the ai should know if their are people on those planets, so he doesn't get removed from the game and still be there ( a shadow of his self LOL )
