to many new resources in endgame

Hi,
playing a new game, huge galaxy, I noticed an annoying trend at the end of the game.
There was all these new resources - minable resources, morale, influence and so forth, sprouting up everywhere, somewhere even 2 in the same sector(morale, both of them).
The computer AI's seemed to know about those as well, and since I had already scouted the areas once, I didn't feel the need to do it again, and I must admit I don't do a thourough scan of the minimap that often to find all the resources I might have missed.

This is kinda annoying, especially in an "influnce-war" game as I was playing - close to winning, and then suddenly - boom 3 places in the "blue galaxy" a cross (3x3 sectors) sprouted ,because they planted a base on a resource.

I think the resource spawning should be stricly onetime only bonusses, not the minable resources.

You've got to use those Scout ships for something... I don't mind the new resources.

Hmm, this again depends on what kind of game you want to play. I don't want to set up scout routes throughout the galaxy and then check the map every 15th turn to see if anything new has come up.
I want to manage my empire - not my ships :-)

Again, it's playstyle - perhaps an option to decide the respawn factor??

I read in an earlier post that all the resources are created in the very beginning.

Not so - I've seen them appear in the middle of the game from time to time

Yeah, the last two games I played, resources sprouted like crazy toward the end. However, I finally discovered that, on the mini-map, if you have ships and planets turned off, the resources are very easy to spot, so I usually have it set that way. And, since I was building lots of constructors, I was able to beat the AI to the resources most of the time.

I have also read that the minable "galactic resources" (the ones you build star bases on) are generated ONLY at the start of the game, whereas the anomalies (that the survey ship can "investigate") are initially generated at the start of the game with an occasional new anomaly generated from time to time.

So far, the discussion on this thread sounds confused. I have a sense Flemming is talking about the galactic resources, NOT the anomalies. If so, either this is a BUG or somewhere along the line I have gotten the wrong information (again?).

Resources are only generated at the start of the game.

Anomalies respawn.

Razgon, has any alien civilization gone extinct on you? When this happens, their starbases disappear and the resources are free to be mined again. That would give the same symptoms as you see.

In my current game resources were added to sectors well after the start of the game. A cluster of 4 appeared with an area of 9 squares after I had already surveyed the sector. Of course, they were near a competitors system, not mine! >:(

I am definately talking about resources, not the anomalies.

TJLI: Nope, wasnt that that happened :-)

Okay - I was EXTREMELY sure that new resources appeared in the end game - actually I would stake my boss' reputation on it ;-) But if the programmers say it doesnt happen so, well?? The reason I was sure, was that suddenly in endgame, in the middle of my territory, an Influence resource was taken by the enemy AI. I am pretty sure it wasnt there before, and suddenly a lot of them seemed to appear, morale, influence, military resoruces, even 2 in some sectors.

I will watch carefully for this again, because I am still convinced it happened.

After checking out my old save games, I can prove that resouces can appear mid-game. However, I was wrong about the 4 new resources appearing - only one was an actual resource - the other three were just starbases.

Yeah. The intention might be for resources to only appear at the start, but that's definitely not what's happening. And I do mean resources, the red, green, blue, yellow, and purple minable things. I see new ones late in the game, in places where I've been already, and sometimes just a sector or two from my worlds. They're definitely new--the AI discovers them at the same time, and then it's a race to see who can build constructors and get them there quickest.
