Government change

I must say, that a change og government doesnt really appeal to me.
After having Imperial with a +8 BC each turn, I tried changing to Federation, three turn later I check my income, and it's down to -17BC each turn. hmm, not really woth my time then, is it??

Was your morale pretty low? It's not worth to change in my opinion if your average morale is below 60...

Nope - morale was fine - 61 overall I think, but again, that was not the point. According to the manual, I was to get 20 percent BONUS not less money, from a government change like this one.

Yeah, but it also makes it harder to control morale, which is directly tied in with how much money you make...

I change as soon as I can, and I don't experience any economic setbacks. Was there a recession?

I sense confusion here.

Flemming, when you say your income goes down, which line/field are you looking at. There are several of them. The top right quarter of the diplomacy "economics" screen has a whole column of income values by type down the left side: taxes, trade, tribute, total; expenses down the right side: military, social, research, etc. etc.: and below both of these columns is "net income". Government changes the TAX income, and (even if the manual doesn't say it, and I think it used to), production capablilty. So tax income goes up, military, social, and research spending goes up, and the net income goes down. If you check production before and after a government change and after adjusting your spending rate to return your net income to near zero you will find that production is also up.

Jack,
I'm looking at the Net income to see my total plus BC each turn - easiest thing to remember from turn to turn.

But yes, perhaps I should check the Tax income instead - good point :)
