AI Improvements

The AI is very balanced and could go gold right now and be successful, but there are a few tweaks that could really give it that MOO1 sort of edge:
I would like to see the AI's, especially the evil ones, be more aggressive in the mid game especially if during the time I am grabbing resources. Too many times they are too easily bought off with techs or money for peace(make the level of techs twice what they are now on the harder AI levels:smart or better).
Empires should become more aggressive just as they are coming out of the colonization phase into the resource-grabbing phase and go after influence and morale boosting resources so that those are divided. That would make a player like me have to fight them or trade to get the starbases.
I do like the Xenophobia and Recession events, but it would make a huge difference to see them earlier in the midgame. I also like the assasination event, but I traded about 5 or 6 techs and sued for peace....that was too easy to get out of.
I love the pacing of the events, and how they create a cycling effect in your influence and other areas, but the ceiling for those things to happen should be much lower(about half again as much as it it is now)so that they happen earlier.
AI's should have techs that they won't trade no matter what. Such as hyperspace, interstellar business, terraforming, battleship; all of the ones that provide critical boosts until at least one other empire has it too. This could be a bright AI or better setting.
AI's should also buy certain improvements outright in keeping with the overall strategy of their empire(mercantile/tech/culture/war/etc...).
AI's should make better effective use of alliances. Empires should gang up on me on the higher levels.
Overall the game is very balanced and is very ready to go.
BTW I was playing with the AI's all set to smart on the last game.
