Couple of strange bugs

1. If one of the other races wants to talk to me, the various fields to pick from are blank (money, systems, techs, etc.) When hitting reject (or accept), all the texts become visible.

2. I've been playing a game for a couple of nights, and all seem to have been going well. Tonight, however, without any warning, the game just exited upon hitting the turn button. No debug information or anything else. Just "poof".

I can provide both a screen shot for (1) and the saved game for (2).

I have an AMD Athlon XP 1900+ whith 512MB ram, Win XP, AOpen GeForce3 Ti200, and a Creative SB Live sound card.

1) This is deliberate so that you can't mess with the offer. It's a take it or leave it situation.

2) Please send the save game to [email protected].

On 1). And it is a one time offer. if you don't take it, it won't be available later. I tried rejecting one of these with the hopes of sweatening the deal, but the offer was better than what I could bargain for.

I really can't see why I shouldn't be able to ask for more (have you never negotiated?). I can see that that would easily lead my opponent to withdraw his offer ("That doesn't seem like a good deal to us"), but that's where the danger of demanding more should lay. And yes, I should not be able to see what resources my opponent has, i.e. if I ask for an additional sum of, say, 100, and that's not available to him - he simply can't accept the deal, and I've lost my chance ;)

But you can negotiate... decline the offer and then offer what you want. The computer will still say no either way :p

1) Yeah, but it's still a negotiation situation. You want something I have, and you think you have something to offer in exchange, thus you approach me for an offer. (If I agree, fine - it's a win-win since both parties are happy.) However, you do want to give as little and gain as much as possible, so you offer something, but have some leeway in order to close the deal. If it's a take-it-or-leave-it situation, I must assume that the race I'm dealing with doesn't have an inkling as to the art of negotiating a deal. I'll probably suggest that they take a crash-course and leave me alone ;)

If I'm approached on, say, behalf of the management of my company in order to come to an agreement for the coming year's total wage hike, I expect that the first offer is not the final offer. If I sense that that's the case, I'll break off negotiations immedately and ask them to reconsider.

2) I understand that if I reject but offer the same as was offered me, it's rejected (automatically)?

3) Why are my resources blank? Shouldn't I be able to say: 'Not only do I agree, but I'll even throw in a couple of ships at no cost!'?? Not only should it be possible, but it should also count towards my relations with that race, and through that, towards my total influence :d

On another, but related note: If I suggest a deal, do I see (on the right side of the screen) all the resources my opponent has to his disposal?
