Difference between .desktop and .dxtheme

Hi,

Can someone explain to me the difference (if any) between theme files with extension desktop and extension dxtheme?

Thanks.

If I remember correctly, one's older than the other. I think .desktop was first.

Differences:

.desktop = no X, H, M; no duplicate letters
.dxtheme = no S, K, O, P; duplicate E

Other way around Bichur.

DX themes were originally .dxtheme, but I believe they changed it to .desktop when DX3 came out. Not sure why, maybe something to do with future versions when Vista comes out. Or just to make it easier for new users to understand.....who knows??

OOPS! forgot to answer the question........ There really is no difference, they both go in the "Themes" directory in Desktop X, and load the same way.
