I have used this screensaver since it's release as Beta in December 2005, I think it was, anyway, having bought most of "The Good" aquarium screensavers, this one is fantastic and gets better and better with the constant work Alan does on his project, all updates so far have been free, also there is a forum on the site where you can interact directly with the Auther of this screensaver, would highly recomend it. Jim
I own Aquarium Desktop but it's not a screensvaer the fishes in the dream aquarium are far more realistic....but i also like aquarium desktop....but i want more fishes (bought already the expansion pack)....and some nice moving backgrounds not the standaard ones....

I haven't used a screensaver in years. For some reason, they just don't make sense to me. I mean, they run when you are away, so why bother spending money on them?
I bought DreamAquarium as soon as it became available and I have to saythat it is a truly amazing piece of work and improvements are on-going.
I have an aquarium right next to my computer! I need only look left. PC
I too dont see the sense in buying screensavers....oh well...i will stick with default windows XP screensaver which i actually pay attention to for less than a second...either im walking away from the computer or coming back...
Not everyone is away from their computer when it's idle. If you're never around your computer when you're not actively using it, yes screen savers don't make much sense. However, many people have their computers in their bedroom or living room or whatever, and it's nice to have something interesting on the screen when it's not being used.
Screen savers don't do much for me. Out of sight, out of mind if you know what I mean. I use Stardocks 2006 Aquarium with my own wallpaper and some fish icons that I found. Clink on the link and see if you can tell which fish are "real" and which are icons?

Imagine if you were told that there was a finite limit to, say, the switching of an LCD 'pixel'....that it'd only switch on and off a fixed number of times before dying....how many people would think "Unnecessary switchings are just that...no savers for me...."?
I think the same way about thinking.....it's better not to....just in case you only have a finite number of thoughts.....

Since I already know that, it doesn't apply to me.
My power settings shut off my monitor after an hour of inactivity, so it's not like I run screen savers 24/7. They run between getting off and on the computer for relatively short periods of time.
If that ~45 minutes of screen saver activity here and there shortens the life of my monitor, so be it. It's worth it to me. Besides, monitors are getting better and cheaper all the time; they don't need to last a lifetime.

since i dont have a LCD screen, that doesnt apply to me either
Not only that, but LCD's back lights have a limited lifetime too. Lot of hours, but running 24/7 will use it up pretty quickly. By 4 or 5 years of screensavers, it will be pretty dim indeed.
