How do I actually use a mod? n00b Question alert!

I just downloaded the 1.2 update, went into options, checked use mods, restarted the game and I still can't figure out how to load a mod. I have the correct folder selected, but how do I actually get the mod to run? There seems to be no simple way to just select the mod I want. I realize I'm a moron because everyone else seems to be able to do it. Little help?

you select the folder, go back to the main menu, and it will prompt you to restart the game.

how? where exactly do i download the mod? I'm starting to think its a bug as some ppl have recommended stuff like downloading a mod into C:\Program Files\StarDock\TotalGaming\GalCiv2 and it still doesn't work

Mod folder got moved into program files. Program files/stardock/totalgaming/galciv2/mods IIRC.

Ok I have put my mod "testmod" inside a folder called "mods" in my C:\Program Files\stardock\totalgaming\galciv2\ and I'm still not seeing my mod being used.

Also I still have a Mods folder in My Documents\My Games\GalCiv2\ directory, which one should I be using the My Documents location or the installation directory?

None of this is ever made clear in the wiki or the guide, all it says is to put our mod's folder inside the mod folder to avoid corrupting the original files, Not very informative.
