The elegantly dressed man

when I was seventeen
as is the custom of the poor
I traveled by Greyhound

I was going to visit my grandfather
in Bakersfield

as I sat in the LA terminal
feeding quarters into the tiny
television screens firmly bolted
to the arm of the chair

an elegantly dressed man
came walking toward me
he had on the finest expensive suit
I had ever seen

you could tell he was refined and
cultured
his shoes shined and his tie was
silk with a gold pin in it

he came to where I was sitting
the smell of expensive cologne
filled the air and as if it were
the most common thing to do

he whispered in my ear

"whiteboy, I'll give you fifty bucks
if you'll call me nigger and let me
suck your dick,"

I punched him and screamed
"You F-A-G-G-O-T!!!"

he ran toward the exit and I stopped
riding buses,

it was the only reasonable response.

MF, why you gotta be so hostile to the black man?
So, he asked you for a little oop-de-doop and you gotta fly off the handle?
You am a bigat.

Seriously, another homer, you articulate, fucked-up fuck.

Love, Mosky
