Advice From My Fellow / Fellowette Conquerors Please

Ok today im looking to move out of outer space and into cyber space :D
Anyone know of any good , reliable and cost effective hosting peeps? im a bit new to setting up a space , so please be gentle with me :) i dont want anything speacial , maybe a few files for download and some space for pictures and text etc for GalCiv (little tutorials , my empire LMAO). I can go with brinkster , thats free and would sort of match what i need , its just that in this day and age you get you pay for so id rather get something of my own set up.

Thats cool , thanks but i want a space all of my own. Im obviously asking in the wrong place, as regards response so ill go look elsewhere ;)

I have plenty of space and bandwidth at the moment!

If you want your own domain, you'll need to arrange to register it and to find a DNS server. (I use 123reg in the UK - they're about as cheap as it gets and provide DNS etc; if you want to use someone else, not a problem, but you need to be able to manage the DNS info!)

I'll need to know the domain name, and also an email to forward the domains mail to....

Thankyou, im a little confused with the all the initials, (DNS * net server?), so i can see im going to have to look into the subject with a bit more depth :D i dont mind, i was trained as a programmer, bit rusty now but hey , whats life but a challenge?
Alos kudos for the invite but theres a small problem ... i can see a smiley white face on your list of metal ... we is bigtime evil, only like evil peeps in empires (exception being those so-called evil wombles in the 'other' evil empire LOL ) so im afraid we will have to decline your offer of the empire invite ;)

DNS (Domain Name Server) is the internet equivalent of a telephone directory - look up the name and it returns the IP address....
