All Items researched (Need some help)

Ok. Ive played for a while and its been good but i felt like i was wasting too much time on research so i was gonna fix that, i went into C/ Prrogramfiles/ Stardock/ Galciv2/ data/ english and open techtree.xmp (not sure on the .???) and changed the reqirment for each research to none and the cost to one, when i changed the cost to one for some reason (luckily) made it a reseach i already know, but then when i started the game i was missing lots of the reseaches and it was a pain but i checked again and its seems that most of the reseaches respond to cost =1 as already known but not all i would like some help on making it all researched

Are you aware there is already a scenario called "Battle of the Gods" where you begin with all techs researched?

Well, it would be a lot of work to do by hand but the most certain way to achieve that is to add all the techs as pre-researched in RaceConfig.xml.

I have not tried this one but I imagine it would be a pain getting production going on your worlds since you need to build or buy "Industrial Sectors" which cost 4 times that of an "Enchanced Factory" but only output 1.6 times. It would be nice to be able to build older planetary improvements.

You begin in that scenario with lots of extra money (for buying the first few factories, etc).

You could just use the research cheat at the start of every game. It would save you from having to edit a file.

One thing though, with the research cheat.

Turn off tech victory or you will win the first turn.

And the other place to give yourself techs is in the Custom Race.raceconfig file in the My Documents\Games\GalCiv2 folder.

And doing it there, you do not have to mess with one of the core game files and the changes will still be there after upgrading the game.
