Verizon Exploring Free Gaming Service for FiOS

BetaNews is reporting that Verizon is planning to add a free gaming service to its FiOS Internet service as a means to draw more subscribers. Named PlayLinc, the new service would allow up to 32 gamers to chat with one another via voice or AIM, plus create private servers for invite-only games.

Verizon recently sponsored a tournament using PlayLinc as a test with positive results, especially for the private server feature.
