The soon to be roasted Star Trek Captain, William Shatner, will reprise his role as Capt. James T. Kirk for the upcoming Bethesda Softworks/Mad Doc Software title Star Trek: Legacy. The game, which is due out in October for PC and Xbox 360, will span all five of the franchise's TV shows and include voice acting from Shatner as well as the other Captains, Patrick Stewart, Scott Bakula, Avery Brooks, and Kate Mulgrew.
"I am delighted to have the chance to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Star Trek with my fellow captains by providing our voices to STAR TREK: Legacy," said Shatner. "Bethesda Softworks has done an excellent job in creating an exciting game that stays true to Star Trek’s roots and accurately incorporates elements from each series."
Star Trek: Legacy places players in the role of Admiral of a task force of warships as you command them through battles large and small. Strategic and tactical skills will be tested in real-time as you battle it out in 60 authentic spaceships, complete with "full damage modeling, and spectacular visual effects." The title will feature a full single-player campaign as well as enabling players to play online with a group of friends.
Hopefully this title can hold off the Trekkies until the 2008 movie comes out.
