How many GalCiv games are there?

I see a lot of people talk about this game on other forums that I frequent, and it seems that previous games are always alluded to. Is this a sequel of some sort? If so, would it be worth getting the previous games, or just waiting or this to come out? I really can't wait for this game. Between the impening release of Freelancer, MOO3, and this... I don't know where my time is going to go LOL.

Yes, original Galvic was released back in the OS/2 days, and that was the OS it ran on. If I were you I would just wait for the game to come out. I don't think you will have funn insialling OS/2 on your PC just to play Galciv
