New newbie on the site/forum.

A question.....

Hello all..
I'm new in the whole customizing thing and I don't know ( allmost ) anything 'bout it. So I thought that I'd come here to ask you guys ( who have been longer part of this and have some knowlege about it ).
So I wanted to ask is it possible to instal the custom-desktop without making any changes your self.
Couse I downloaded this theme: https://www.wincustomize.com/ViewSkin.aspx?SID=1&SkinID=3480&LibID=31
and the DesktopX-program. And is it possible that I could get the theme straight like it looks in the screenshot, couse I get "a lil bit lost" in the DesktopX's menus etc.

Please help the noob.

Thx, and cheers.

Most DesktopX themes need a little configuration.

The screenshots show it as the creator has it and/or a configuration possibility. Not all shortcuts will match your system. (an example would be a shortcut to PhotoShop and you don't have Photoshop).

A more 'how can I...' or 'I want this instead...' question will generally get you some beneficial instructions.

Which version of DesktopX do you have?
If it's the client only, then you may not be able to cofigure as much - a lot of configuring is more readily done in 'builder' mode.

I was going to say as long as you have your resolution set to the proper size( which is 1280 for this Theme ) then the theme will " look " like the pic - but you may want to tweak your own shortcuts as Sir Bichur has explained.

but never 'thumped'

What Fairyy~ mentioned is most important = you need to use a skin that matches your screen resolution (or depending on your monitor - change your resolution to match) or use one that's resolution independent.

My resolution is fixed at 1024x768 - I tried the 'Incredibles' theme once (just to see) and it shot off my screen onto the tv in the living room.

Hello,

I'm no troll, I'm just realy a noob. I've never been intrested in this untill I saw it at my friends place - and it looked awesome. So I have my PC resolution is 1280 x 1024 and the DesktopX ver is 3.1. I downloaded the free 14day "trial version" from the official website.
Is it possible to get some tutorial on THIS skin, about how to get it looking like it? 'Couse when I start the DesktopX and start customising the difrent parts of the skin, I can't see the windows bar on the bottom. :S
Or are there any tutorials which thing in DesktopX mens which etc. ?

Thx for the fast asnwers and cheers again!

There was a link to questions about configuring DX Themes on the details of that skin
See link below :

if the trial has a 'builder' mode (right click the tray icon and switch to builder) it's easier.

right click the icon and configure desktopx - there should be an option in one of the tabs for the taskbar - it should be checked to hide = uncheck it and the bar will come back. A lot of themes hide it, but have the start, bar, and systray built into the theme.

The DTX tutorial could use at least a picture(s) update.

And after a test run - I would definately endorse purchasing DX. Its my favourite program to play around with. ( Im not that good at it but its still fun ) Although your best value is to purchase Object desktop for $ 49.95 and you get all the programs needed to keep you busy for hours. DesktopX is $19.95 - so you see its a bargain the other way.

( and no - i dont work for Stardock - just like to let people know what the best value is )
Thank you Fairyy~

your welcome and good luck - have fun.
