Owner Of A Lonely Heart

Trevor Horn knows his insecre friend can become a major success in the sober “Owner Of A Lonely Heart.”
A decisive guitar solo opens the single, setting a purposeful tone. In the first verse, he motivates his friend to not waste away his life at a dead-end job and spending money on drinks. Horn says his friend should show he’s worth more than minimum wage. A decision to send his resume out to an agency for an internship or taking a class at the college could help him in the long-run. He says his friend has to envision himself writing out briefs and researching. His friend needs to realize he has to stop waiting for life to happen for him.
In the chorus, he says his friend sees himself failing at his chosen profession and prefers not to have his dreams shattered.
In the second verse, his friend told Horn he has been disillusioned. It seems like with each thing he tries, he fails and it has scared into not trying. Horn says even the eagle has starved and hurt its wings. However, the eagle is brave and nurses his injured wings and hunts farther for food. He never gives up. Horn advises his friend not let others define him. If he doesn’t want to succeed, he will have proven his critics right.

Horn doesn’t like to see his friend discouraged and letting go of his dreams. His friend is capable of being an CEO, if he wanted. However, he’s had too many rejections, which he has begun to perceive as the truth. Horn tries to relate to him by telling him about the transitional phase into adulthood and reassures him everything will work out.
Horn’s earnest vocals are involved and direct. He’s not going to lead his friend the wrong way and wishes to clue him on the reality of what he’s doing to life. To see his friend broken saddens him.
The synths intend to inspire with fiery jolts and crashes while the stern guitars provide a heedful undertone.
“Owner Of A Lonely Heart” is memorable for its complex instrumentation and positive message.
