After GalCiv?

Brad:
What are your plans after the release of GalCiv (besides the continues updates)
Do you have any other games/apps in the planning?

hehe The non-entertainment side of stardock *always* has apps in the works ;) (Windowblinds 4, ObjectBar, DesktopX 2, ect). As for us on the game side, I'll be heading the "Political Machine" team, while Cari will be taking care of "GalCiv" Bonus features for a while. After that...well, perhaps a GalCiv2 if things go well, or one of the other games Brad has ideas on. We'll just have to wait and see what the boss decides. :)

There's GalCiv stuff for years to come, Political Machine, Elemental, and Mobilization. Only Poltical Machine and GalCiv have funding though.

Elemental and Mobilization??? whats that :)

hmm, let me guess, Elemental is a fantasy game, where two wizards strive for dominion by summoning... ELEMENTALS??

Mobilization is a game of skill and speed, a twoplayer game where each side has to mobilize his forces as quickly as possible against the other opponnent :)

let me know if I guess correctly, hehe

Hmm is Mobilization a M.U.L.E. style game ?

Players would land on the planet Kcodrats instead Irata.
(lets see if there is anyone here who figures out what I mean :D )

I've never bought a game just because I liked the company. But, I believe when the Political Machine demo comes out I'll check it out. Or maybe if I get a job I'll join Drengin.net :p

Elemental is a Sherlock Holmes detective style game... heh.

Mobilization is an Apex style racing game... you build your car and try to sell it, racing it to make it more popular.

Well, it could happen...

Elemental is similar to Master of Magic.

Mobilization could be described as Total Annihilation meets Civilization. It has very unusual specific game mechanics though (you don't get to "build" units, people are born based on various factors in your civilization and then you get to decide what to do with your population).

I have been lurking on these boards for some time now, but the mention of Elemental and Master of Magic in the same sentence, caught my attention in profound way. I LOVED Master of Magic and given what I have seen of GalCiv, I cannot wait for more information about Elemental now. Like Obliterator said, Stardock's future is looking good to me :)

Please, if I can help in any way to support such a project, let me know...please, please, please Brad.

Arras

P.S. Oh, I am counting the days til GalCiv is on my hard drive!

I echo Arras_at_Home's and Midnight_louise's sentiments complety...
I want to help out in ANY way I can with something akin to Master of Magic, which, after Moo and Galciv is the game I've spent the most time playing :)

No funding for those games yet, eh? hmm - I just had a crazy idea (not the first, and not the last I'll have is my guess).
Make a PayPal button on the site, with people being able to donate money to Elemental's development :)
I'd be the first to donate 10 bucks.
So, all you need then is about...ehm...ehm..*calculating madly*... 10.000 people doing like me?

oh well, looking forward to hearing more on that game :)

Funding is always the limit though. Mobilization and GalCiv were both pitched to GT Interactive some years ago. Mobilization was (this close) to getting the license to the Total Annihilation engine. But GT Interactive got sold off and things kind of went into limbo.

Eventually our Object Desktop software became really popular and we were able to afford to develop GalCiv ourselves without outside help.

This might be a to private question to ask, but how much money do you think GalCiv will bring in? And how much does it cost to develope a game like GalCiv?

i'd like to see elemental.

Elemental would definitely interest me as well. Though we do have the Age of Wonders series to keep us partially happy at the moment. Just add empire building to that and wow!

alternative is some sort of small scale private investors scheme - a bit like investing a few quid in shares (but not shares perhaps, sort of bonds, could be a very small amount) in your local footy team now that would be interesting

When I got wind of Elemental, I thought "I wood buy that!". Stardock creates games of the first water and that's got me all fired up (and I'm normally a down-to-earth guy). Considering how much I, and many of my friends, played MoM, I think Stardock would have an instant best-seller on their hands. Maybe "They Who Fund" should be reading this thread.

End transmission.
