The Flower

Not sure why I wrote this...but it felt right. I think it's one of those metaphor things...*wink*

Pushing,
Rising,
Growing.

Greeting the fresh air,
Taking in the sun.
Dew drops sticking,
A breeze flutters.

The time has come,
The petals unfurl.
To everyone’s eye,
A thing of grace and beauty.

Young and new,
Vibrant and alive,
Something precious,
Something delicate.

Who would crush it?
Who dare to even touch it?
But there it lies,
Cut,
Beaten,
Trampled.

Is this what humans cause,
Suffering and destruction?
Is this what we enjoy,
Crushing beauty,
Destroying life?

I like it Shaun, very nice! In many ways kind of like what life is!

Thanks.

I wrote this...very strangely...it just kind of demanded to be written...I didn't have a clue where I was going with it.

On a side note...I have 20,000 points...which is pretty cool...nowhere near the top, but I'm fairly proud of it.

This was very good. For me, the rose is a visual metaphor for the beauty and wonder of the Almighty. Viewed with that lens, your poem takes on an even more trenchant hue. I also read this as the flower being a young person - -there are so many possible ways to go with this. Again, very well done.

Well, that means I know it was a metaphor...but I said, "I think..." and then a wink...to indicate, but not flat out say it. It's subtle....
