Freelancer will tame me until galciv comes out!!

Even though the two are not in the same genera, it's really a great game.... very deep if you want it to be lots of places to go to,not boring at all!! I just picked up the game today played it for 5 hours, It felt like half a hour... try the demo!! ;)

10-1 time ratio! Nice! It'll be like GalCiv will come out in 2 days! woohoo!

I agree - the game is very fun.
The space combat is somewhat strange the first time you try it, more like an arcade game than a space flight sim, but very fun nonetheless.

I bought it because the game sounded a lot like the old Elite game on c64 which I absolutely loved.

damn, I just revealed just HOW old I am, didnt I?

oh well :)

I DL the demo and it seems a great game for people who like this genre (indeed people who played Elite, Razgon, we must be of same age ;) ). But it is NOT a TBS game, which means for alot of gamers who absolutely don't want a game in which at least a (big) part of it is nothing more than Shoot Them Up, will not like it. I myself am terrible in these kind of games (already in the time of Elite). Anyway, everybody can draw up their own conclusions based upon the demo.

I hate Freelancer. 4 Years of development just to get 'Dungeon Siege in Space'. They have dumbed it down to where no thought is required, only twitch reactions. The story is linear and 98% percent of the missions are 'Fly here and kill stuff'. The NPC conversations are dull and repetitive. I would only agree that it is like Elite if Elite had been boring, linear, twitch gaming with below par graphics.
Guess I'll stick with 'I-war 2 : Edge of Chaos' if I want to play a space sim 'till GalCiv is out....

I picked up a brand new copy at EB for only $1.98. That's what I call a bargain. (Then I went and bought a $30, force-feedback gamepad so I could enjoy it, -d'oh!)

it's fun but don't expect much depth :notsure:
disappointing for any old fan of elite/privateer...
