'Air Assault Task Force' By Years End

ProSIM Developing New Engine, Changing Control Scheme

Shrapnel Games and ProSIM Company have finally made an official announcement regarding their upcoming title, Air Assault Task Force. The title has been discussed on the Shrapnel Games' blog for some time but was never formally announced until now. Shrapnel hopes to have the game available near the year's end and promises to deliver an extensive 100+ page manual along with the title.

Developer ProSIM has based the title around the ATF engine, used in many games such as The Star and the Crescent and The Falklands War: 1982 and of course, Armored Task Force, but will be deriving their own all new engine for AATF allowing features new and old.

The title will also come with a redesigned player-UI using a "select-unit, select-order" control scheme commonly seen in RTS games. Although the scheme is the opposite of the older ATF games, formerly "select-order, select-unit," ProSIM believes that changing schemes will lower the learning curve, allowing any level of gamer to enter the battle.

Air Assault Task Force will come with three full campaigns and one mini-campaign. Campaigns will range from Vietnam to the treacherous battles in Afghanistan where players will fight "using airmobile, infantry, armor, artillery, and more." Somalia rounds out the campaigns with the mini-campaign being set in Joint Readiness Training Center at Fort Polk, Louisiana.
