One of the issues that I believe needs to discussed in depth is the funding of our eduaction system here in Missoula, Montana as well as the entire state of Montana. No matter who you try to talk to,there never seems to be a clear explanation as to why the amount given to public education is never enough. I am sure many of you, like me, have children attending public schools and sometimes feel that we are being constantly hit up for more money. We all work hard and pay taxes. Aren't we entitled to except some accountability as to how our tax dollars are being spent? I strongly believe that before any "new" money is allocated to education, a full independent audit needs to happen. We need answers to where the current money is going and if it is being spent properly. If it turns out that more funds are truly needed, then earmarks need to be attached to the funds designated towards that project.
