Idea: Salvage Module

This module would allow you to explore debris fields. Debris fields can be left behind by ship battles. The first race to get a salvage ship to the debris field claims the prize. This can be a small lump sum of BC, or 5% towards a tech that the "owner" has, and you do not.

Sounds good to me, but it would be simpler if large fleet battles left some "Ship Graveyard" (or whatever it is) anomalies or the like that could be surveyed later... *shrugs*

I seem to remember a Necro unit from Total Annihilation. Great for bringing back that Krogoth you spent an hour building, although it was very vulnerable.

Why not have a system where ships can be salvaged in a similar manner -- i.e., time and the vulnerability of an expensive salvage operation versus the potential for a "free" ship.
