Multiple Sclerosis; The hidden disease
Just a description regarding the disease

Hello,
I have Multiple Sclerosis, I have had it since I was fifteen. You would never know I had it just looking at me. It is a debilitating and disabling disease. Almost 60% of women are getting it and no one knows why. They are now stating that its an epidemic among women. The percentages are rising. Like most of us, you cannot tell we have it. But for us it is a painfully disease that makes us very sick for about half a year and left with the symptoms for the other 6 months. I was bedridden for 4 months and am now just coming out of it.
Our Central Nervous System has a protective coating directly on the nerves called Myelin and what MS does is it eats up that protective coating that can never be replaced. So we are left with empty signals from our brain to our body, For example; One time I was cleaning my house and suddenly my left leg went limp and I fell hard. I broke 3 ribs from landing on the vacuum cleaner and had a leg that would not move. That is because the signal from my brain to move my leg did not make it to where it should have. We have severe pain, Muscle Weakness, Tingling and Numbness in our body's that last for hours, a general feeling of being ill, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Irritable Bowel Syndrome, sleeplessness, muscle twitches and I mean allot of muscles at the same time, restlessness only at night of course, Cognitive dysfunctions and a weakened immune system.
MS is in the category of an Auto Immune Disorder because what happens with MS in the beginning is the immune system does a back flip and attacks the body instead of protecting it. That in turn causes Multiple Sclerosis. Here is a little Trivia for you.
MS was found to go all the way back to the early 1800s. Hows That.
There is not a known cause to this disease although without enough proof Scientist are begining to believe that it may stem from a childhood illness.
There is also no known cure.
Maybe in my lifetime there will be a cure. That will be cool.
I am building a web site called ethelsmsadviceandsupport.com. I suck at building it so it will be a while lol.
If anyone has any MS stories or comments for the web site please post it or e-mail me at Link if you cannot contact me there for some reason I screwed up on just contact me here.
I am not very good at building web sites but I feel I have too. I have read 33 MS books and 4 Neurological books (Boy they were hard
.
I can take constructive criticism as long as it is in the proper maner.
Thanks
