Hooters Disappointment

Ok, so this is another mommy blog.  I'm a SAHM.  Being a mommy is my JOB.  So, technically, this is work-related.  Hehe.

Yesterday we had our trip with CS to the Maritime Museum in Honolulu.  Before we left, the kids were asking me about the place and where it was.  We've walked past it a million times, but somehow they didn't remember it.

So I told them it was near Hooters.  Because it is.

Back at home last night my youngest looked me in the eye and demanded to know why we didn't go to Hooters.  Apparently, he misunderstood our destination with the outing.

I told him the trip was to go to the museum.  Then I asked him if he was disappointed in me since I didn't take him to Hooters.

"No," he said in a serious tone.  "I'm disappointed in the (Cub Scouts) Den Leader for not taking us to Hooters."

His brother followed up with, "Hooters is where fat guys go to drink beer and act stupid and look at ladies."

How did my kids get to be so smart?  Hahahahahaha.

That is so funny. What you mean they don't go for the scrumptious wings?

LOL @ Hooters' wings. I was kind of underwhelmed by Hooters when I went. But there WERE fat guys there, drinking, and acting like asses.

(We threw French Fries under their table so the birds (outdoor seating near the ocean) would be all over them. Haha. Evil, I know.)

Hehe. Yeah, but don't you have facial hair? I don't think he mentioned anything about facial hair, so you're safe.

PS - Fat guy? I don't think so!

I thought for sure this was gonna be a story about going to Hooters and being disappointed in their "almost world famous wings" or some other food on their menu.

'tis funny though.  I chaperoned a class for my daughter's school along with a bunch of other parents.  The school took our middle school aged children to Baltimore's Inner Harbor area where they went to the Maryland Science Center for an IMAX movie, and then they let everyone go over to the food pavillions at the Inner Harbor.  One of those pavillions has Hooters as a featured restaurant.  The one instruction that was made clear multiple times is that the children were to be instructed that Hooters was off-limits.  The group that I was responsible for was (by memory) all girls.  I wasn't too concerned about them going off in the direction of Hooters

A little later I did hear that several of my daughters classmates had gone to Hooters, despite the instruction.  Forbidden fruit, and all that, I guess.

Having been to Hooters a few times (more than once, not more than 3 if memory serves), I've always found them to be disappointing.  The food isn't that good, and the scenery that you are paying for while there is generally not really worth the trip out of the way for.

Too funny. Hehe.

(But have you seen ACTUAL Hooters girls? They don't look anything like the chicks on the calendars!)

I had spicy shrimp and it was decent. Adrian wasn't crazy about the wings, but he finished them off, so they couldn't have been THAT bad!

LOL. That's hilarious. At least they didn't come home wearing orange shorty-shorts.

PS - Anyone seen the South Park episode where the boys go to 'Raisins'?

I tend to agree. The food is just a tiny step above fast food, but at restaurant prices. I guess the selection of babes depends on the location, but we got a waitress in training who wasn't very flirty and who was lacking in the actual hooters department.

If I recall, there was only one girl working that day who I found very cute. I did get my boys a photo with her, though!

Nothing productive to add... Just that every time Hooters comes up in conversation, I have to point out that for years, I lived within "easy stumble distance" to the very first Hooters ever. I remember the first time I ever got carded there for beer was my 21st birthday. HAHA!

Hehe, chip, EVERYTHING you add is productive.

I like the "easy stumble distance"...is that kinda like the distance from the barracks to Kemo'o Farms? LOL.

It was almost exactly (as near as I can measure while in stumbling condition) the same distance!
