'Halo' Movie Falls Into Pit

Totalgaming.net has been duped once again. Although the screen adaptation to Bungie's Halo hit a few bumps earlier this month, Microsoft and Bungie jointly announced that the project would continue without the backing of the departed studios. According to Gamespot, WingNut Films, the production company behind the project has announced that Halo's silver-screen debut would in fact not continue as planned.
WingNut released a statement to several media outlets with some details behind the collapse of the film: "At this time Peter Jackson and Fran Walsh, along with Microsoft, have mutually agreed to postpone making a feature film based on the Halo video game universe until we can fulfill the promise we made to millions of Halo fans ... of bringing a first class film to the big screen."
The release also detailed that would-be first time director Neill Blomkamp will remain part of the project in its interim. On the other side of the fence comes word that the Halo script has received yet another rewrite, making it the film's third. The report from Entertainment Weekly claims that the second draft by Alex Garland (28 Days Later) and D.B. Weiss is out and a script penned by Josh Olson (A History of Violence) is in.
