Economics

I was just over at the encylopedia reading about undoctmented economics. It stated that when you build a factory to increase production, the increase is given in non-free production and free or "bonus" production and game indicates this with numbers like (8+2).

I don't understand what this means but I haven't played the game yet. Will it beome clear when I do?

I think 8 is what you get normally and +2 is coming from the bonuses you have. So if you'd get 16, you would get +4 with your bonuses maybe. I think I remember this from one of the texts in the encyclopedia (see links up there).

If I've understood correctly the manual (I don't have the beta), the economics model works thus :
Your pop contributes Taxes (at the rate you set, but higher is not always better due to bad effects if you set it too high)
THEN you distribute back your income in Mil/Soc/Res "production".
This is "non-free" production. On top of that you have "free" production, sort of return on what you've invested in Projects and due to morale, tech, or whatever.
Thre are undoubtly other rules and stuff that I didn't get.

In fact it works as if you were a Government of some developed country, not as if your was the N Korean Plan Ministry that decides who has food and who has not.
It seems a pretty good model IMHO (and I happen to have a Master in Econometrics ...) ;p
