Transporting Colonists ?

I don't have the game (beta), but I've read the manual in order to be ready soon :)
Very good read, but I didn't find anything about the possibility to transport colonists from system to system... Is it possible ? If not, how to explain we could settle on an uninhabited planet but NOT be able to add people thereafter ??
And BTW, how many colonists are on a colony ship ?

yes, colony ships can be used to transport population from planet to planet, within a star system or from star to star. But every time you offload a colony wagon it has served its purpose and is removed from the game.

You can also use a Transport rather than a Colony Ship to transport people to a planet you have already colonized.

And colony ships have a variable capacity--don't know what the upper limit is, altho when you go to load one, the default seems to be half the population of the planet from which you are loading. This can be adjusted by the player.

Colony ships don't have an upper limit designed in.

Transports have one drawback in that they don't exactly transport people to a planet, but to a star system. Unloading them results in then being divided equally between the populated planets of a system, which can lead to morale problems on the lowest class planet of that system.

Also, while loading colony ships and transports, my experience is that the people taken from systems witn more than one populated planet is proportional to the planets' populations.
