Icon problem

Firstly how do you get icons on the desktop, I know how but I dont think I've done it right. Secondly, when I put the icons onto the desktop, they dont appear on there for e.g. folders and also the internet explorer icon.

Might help if you explained how you were doing it.

Also, ive got the simple vista DX desktop, when you click on the programmes tab at the top, how do you get programmes in there, and the same question for the other tabs if possible. Thanx

I get my icons onto the desktop by right clicking on the desktop, going to desktop X and selectng Desktop X welcome and select the load object, on the new window that appears, click on browse and select the folder icon at the top then in the left pane I click on desktop and just simply drag n drop the icons that I want onto the desktop, but some of the icons dont appear when I do do that like the internet explorer icon and a folder icon. I've found out how to put icons in the programmes tab and the others so never mind about them. And one last thing, how do you save the desktop, do you just click on the desktop tab at the top left hand side and click on the save desktop option in that window.
