got this game from the kids looks new has serial number but after i download it it wont play the screen goes dark then it just pops back up to windows I run xp not very computer savy please help me to get it to work

Please go to C:\Program Files\Stardock\Totalgaming\GalCiv2 (or wherever you installed the game at), open the debug.err file you find there in notepad, and copy/paste the contents into a post here. This will give us some technical information that can help troubleshoot your problem.
