Suggestions for New Players?

First off, I bought the game and can't stop playing it. It's great!
Second, I was wondering what suggestions everyone had for new players?

Don't take on the Dominators too early. They're dangerous, and if they don't kill you AND you're lucky enough to be part of a successful attack force, you'll still pay plenty of CR repairing all the damage.

Oh, yeah, don't be afraid to check out the Med Stations to get beefed up before going into a major battle. It's much cheaper to spend the money beforehand on drugs to make you a better fighter, as opposed to later on repairing your ship!!

Early on, I think most players focus on transport missions and trading as a merchant.
