First Strike Super Ability

I noticed with the first strike super ability that my ships are still gaining experience and HP with each combat. Even when the opponent never even gets a chance to fire back.

I am not sure how it is defined, but I didn't think you gained experience and/or HP when your opponent was unable to damage your ships.

It seems to me that the same affect should be in place whether you kill your opponent in one round, or have strong enough defenses.

Or if I am missing something else, please let me know.

AFAIK XP is gained for kills, regardless of any damage received (or lack thereof).

Thats a pretty powerful ability. Reminds me of when people were making cargo hulls and beefing them up with lots weapons and attacking to get first strike in the earlyer versions of GC2

Would be the same if you attacked someone who got to fire back but did not do any damage due to your superior defenses.

I would think the crew would gain some type of tactical knowledge just by maneuvering their ships into an attack vector that surprised the enemy and did not allow them to return fire.
