DA crashes at launch all the time now

I tried to run DA today and I got a message that DALaunch.exe could not be found. I then chose to click on the GC2DarkAvatar.exe and a window came up asking for my email address and serial number. I entered all of that information in and then it started loading it and then crashed. It doesn't ask me for that informaiton anymore but it does continue to crash every time I try to start DA.

Please post your debug.err.

He might not be getting one? or he reinstalled everything and put the expansion packs in the correct directories and solved his problem?

If the game is even attempting to start, there will pretty much always be a debug.err.

Well... I deleated everything and moved to a different computer. It works fine on the computer I moved it to. The computer I had it on was making a screeching noise everytime I started it up. It was making a metalic screeching noise. Not fun.

Sounds like either a bad fan or a hard drive on its last legs.

hard drives usually 'click' in my experience, not screech... though if somehow the disks became off-axis that would explain a lot... even just a little bit...

A dry or worn bearing can screech.

Yes, hard drives can make screeching noises in some cases. In my experience, worn/dirty fans just get very loud and/or intermittent.

Hitachi has some samples of hard drive failure sounds to check out if you think that may be your problem.

Is it making the same noise for other applications too?? because if it only makes the noice for Galciv and notheing else then that would be strange. You can get software specific noises like that if your sound card spits the dummy but you would have to have speakers plugged in to hear it.

Also the system speaker can make freaky noises but i think like only when you but the cpu in backwards and stuff like that!!!
