SEGA has announced a new movie tie-in deal for a substantially old movie. SEGA will team with Obsidian Entertainment to create an RPG based on the 'Alien' movie franchise, originally released in 1979, with a license from Twentieth Century Fox. The unnamed project will be released for next-generation machines (can we stop calling them that since they are all out now...) and the PC.
Obsidian Entertainment is responsible for numerous best selling titles including Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II: Sith Lords and the recent award-winning Neverwinter Nights 2. Obsidian will be the first development house to take the 'Alien' franchise to the RPG realm, the series having numerous FPS and action titles already under its belt. The RPG is to be built upon the look and feel of the original movies "while utilizing next-generation technology to create an entirely different and unique Alien experience."
