I have the latest beta installed. When I start a new game there is never and option to submit to the metaverse. What am I doing wrong? (:(

i had a problem a long while back with an internet security software package. It just blocked everything. I moved to Zone Alarm Pro and it pops up when the game has been modified and asks if i want to let it go out to the internet. Could it be something like that? Other than that i'm kinda stumped. I hope someone else can help you with the problem... What are your computer specs.

I think I saw a problem reported with the submision of end game scores just recently, and that the problem is being worked on.

But kschirmer said "When I start a new game ...", which may be asking for something else. There is a panel in the options screen that is labeled "metaverse" and is empty that has had me puzzled for a very long time. Maybe I should have asked about it. Maybe we will not see what it is for until Feb 25.

With the latest beta I have had the game drop to the start screen about one-third of the time instead of dropping to the metaverse submission screen.

I posted to that effect a couple of days ago and I know that Cari saw it but I don't have anything else to offer in the way of debugging info. Nothing showed up in the debug.err file.

I think I might actually finish a game soon--it'll be the first time! What is the procedure for submitting to the metaverse?

Before you submit make sure you've gone to the metaverse screen and registered via the link at the top of the page.

When you finish a game a metaverse submission screen should pop up. Type in the alias you registered in the "alias" slot and press the clearly labeled button.

That should be it.

Magus,

Thanks. It's taking a bit longer for them to catpitualte than I expected :-), but when I finish, I'll submit it.

Another question, though: I'm playing on a laptop. If I finish a game while I'm somewhere where I can't go online, can I save the game to submit when I connect, or do I lose the opportuntiy to submit?

you bring up a good point. maybe there could be an option if the internet is not available to save the wins till there is an internet connection.

Hrothgar,

If you have a saved game that is close to the end you can play the last few turns again while connected and the submission screen will come up.

Magus,

Yeah, that occurred to me after I posted the question. I guess I can load the autosave, which is usually a couple turns old, and then play out the last couple turns when I have a connection.

Yeah, the suggestion of a save being automatically done at the end of a game was suggested some time back, when there was some major problems with submitting to the metaverse. I don't recall however whether there was any up take on the idea or not, as it seems to have died off somewhat. I know, speaking for myself at least, the option would be of great benefit especially for dial-up users.

Any further word if something like this will make it into v1.0? The last I read (and that was quite a long time ago) SD was looking into it.
