AI: Arcaen launch ship to leave HW undefended 1 turn before I invade

I launched 2 TroopTrans at the Arcaen HW. They build a constructor one turn before I arrive. I haven't sent fighters because mine are out of range. Instead of scuppering my invasion they launch the constructor leaving me free to invade unhindered.

I should note here that the AI is still leaving its planets undefended letting me waltz in with TTs. The Terran alliance who fell first built a token fighter on Earth which I wiped out with a 2 fighter fleet.

The Arcaens who are next haven't built ANY fighters despite me showing myself to be following an early conquest strategy and having TTs and Fighters en route deep into their space!

I'm playing "AI use MAX CPU" and all AIs at "Intelligent" level so there are on an even playing field with me.

This is my first DA game. It's proving to be a walk in the park. Sadly

Update: After I took 3 of their best worlds in one turn the Arcaens surrendered... to me. I got the rest of their empire (4 or so planets). I wouldn't have been able to take the other 4 for quite some time.

The turn after the Torians and Altarians declare war on me... something about facing an agressive threat. Who little old me?

Nice to see the AI of the other races at least recognising the dramatic threat I now pose. Its five turns since they declared war but they haven't sent any fleets against me yet. I've just formed a Republic and am racing to get Laser II to improve my small fighters. I have warp engines.

I'm playing a "no tech trading game" as I detest the micromanagement of getting the best deals. I realise this is probably hampering the AI as they like to give each other techs. I did start this game to see the AI improvement though so I wanted as even a playing field as possible.

For those of you who were wondering what happens when you conquer or are given a planet whose climate you haven't researched yet: You can't build anything on it until you get the relevant tech.

For those of you wondering: Dark Avatar beta 2a, Large galaxy, abundant planets, tight clusters, normal planet quality. No tech trading. All AIs intelligent, Always use max cpu on. Normal tech advance rate.

Maybe the constructor crew saw the writing onthe wall, and decided to flee for thier lives. We should applaude the AI for realizing that there are both fight AND flight options.

My troop transports were unarmed.

I'd like to see the game exploit removed whereby an unarmed ship can prevent an invasion. Either remove the exploit or have the AI use it to defend their worlds from imminent invasion.

Brad: I've seen the Arcaens build a farm on a precusor library in this game also. Seems you've got some more tweaking to do

I'm enjoying DA btw. More than I enjoyed DL. I'm impressed all the other AIs have now ganged up on me (The Drengin joined in with the rest a couple of turns after).

I'll let you know how I get on. I've never lost a PC strat game on even intelligence levels with an AI in my life as far as I can recall. I look forward to the day when I do.

Just realised this thread should be in "Beta Reports". Can a Moderator move the thread please?
