Tradegoods question

I couldn't find anything about this in the manual. How does tradegoods affect your trade? Can you start trade routes without having a tradegoods? If so, does tradegoods increase your trade income if you manufacture one after you establised a trade route already?

Tradegoods are wonders that are unique, and tradeable in the diplomacy screen.
Usually they carry a bonus to your entire civilization.

So the tradegoods has nothing to do with trade routes? Wouldn't it be cool to have each tradegoods you get increase the value of your trade routes with 10-20% or so? That would make trade even more interesting!

There are many things you can research to improve trade. Also there are a lot of modules for starbases that increase the value of trade going thur the starbase's sector.
